pricing & how I calculate it

*all pricing is sliding scale, based on class background, access to wealth and complexity.

*as an anticapitalist financial professional who holds the tension of needing to pay my bills and wanting my services to be accessible for everyone, I incorporate a few anticapitalist practices into my business model:

  • sliding scale for client sessions:$150/hr - $550/hr

why? I price my work this way to cultivate economic solidarity from those with greater access to wealth, power, and privilege. this enables me to make my services accessible to everyone and offer pro bono, barter/trade, and pay what you can (PWYC) options to those with less class privilege.

    how is pricing determined?

I ask my clients to self-identify where they fall on the sliding scale by reviewing Resource Generation’s Class Distinction and Income Brackets and identifying which class background & income brackets they’re most aligned with.

general sliding scale for each bracket ranges between:

    • middle class: generally ranging between $150 - $225/hr*

    • upper middle / managerial class: generally ranging between $250 - $375/hr*

    • owning / ruling class: generally ranging between $450 - $550/hr*

    • poor & working class (or anyone who would face hardship and be unable to meet their basic needs paying at the lowest end of the sliding scale): I offer pro bono options as well as accept barter/trade, and pay what you can (PWYC) options.

*if you are aligned to a class bracket but the general sliding scale range isn’t accessible to you meaning that paying it would prevent you from meeting your basic needs, send me an email!

I am committed to seeing if we can find a price point together that is accessible and enables me to run a sustainable business.

  • I offer monthly payment plans available to all clients at no extra cost, fees, or interest (all payment plans are at 0% interest and fees).

I believe that no one should be penalized by having to pay more for not having excess cash upfront.

  • I offer pro bono services to poor / working class folks and anyone who would be unable to meet their basic needs (shelter, transit, food) paying at the lowest end of the sliding scale (including with a 0% monthly payment plan).

I also accept barter/trade and pay what you can (PWYC) options.

please reach out if you’d like to work together but are concerned about the pricing. I’m confident we can get creative and work out something that feels good to both of us!

  • some people wonder why I decided to price my work this way, and how charging these rates (see more in sliding scale payment options) is anti-capitalist / post-capitalist?

I hold the tension of wanting my services to be accessible to everyone, needing to pay my bills, and run my business in a way that I can sustain.

my pricing is intentionally set in a way that allows me to run a sustainable business, meet my needs, and pay myself a rate that factors in the uncompensated / non-client facing parts of my work.

my pricing is influenced by the teachings of Bear Hebert and their webinar Freely: An Anticapitalist Guide to Pricing Your Work.

in the spirit of transparency, and to give you an understanding of how I try to run my business without treating myself like an extractive boss, my rate is based on the total monthly amount that I need to reliably:

    • pay my bills, taxes, & debt

    • cover business expenses (i.e. tech stack, insurance, travel, professional development, compliance)

    • care for myself, access healthcare, & take time off when I need rest

    • cover an emergency / “rainy day”

    • do things that bring me joy and feel values-aligned

    • care for those I love & the communities I’m a part of

    • show up in solidarity as an organizer & equitably redistribute 10%+ of my earnings

    • compensate myself for non-client facing work that otherwise would not be compensated. this includes activities like: business development, building relationships, developing new offerings, administration, operations, bookkeeping, etc.

thank you SO much for your support and I hope this encourages you to experiment with ways to make your work accessible & sustainable!

I appreciate the financial solidarity from folks with greater privilege that enable me to make these services accessible to EVERYONE, regardless of income, class, & other intersecting marginalized identities.
